What is a Cold Email PS Line?
A cold email PS line is one or two sentences that you put at the end of your cold email. It's not the closing line but a sentence put after your signature.
How to write a good cold email PS line?
To write a good PS line, there are few things to have in mind.
Make them casual
To write a good cold email PS line, you usually need to break the pattern of your cold email. For example, if you talked about something really serious in the body, go with a PS line that talks about something casual.
PS lines need to be short
As always, short cold emails win. You need to keep applying this rule to your PS lines.
List of cold email PS lines
This is a collection of different PS lines I used in the past months.
PS line template 1: use of your prospects location
Using the location of your prospects make them feel that your cold email was personalized to them. It's one of the best way to personalize at scale your cold email outreach.
Template:PS: I went to {{city}} in [[Year]] and loved it, you're really lucky to live out there :)
Template filledPS: I went to Miami in 2013 and loved it, you're really lucky to live out there :)
Why it works?: because it's relevant to the location of your prospects if your prospect list segmentation is on point
PS line template 2: the reply with X technique
This PS line technique allows you to get replies even when prospects are not interested in your offer. Not only it will help you understand who is not interested in your offer but also will boost your deliverability (as replies increase email deliverability).
TemplatePS: reply with "[[Words of your choice]]" if this is not relevant. Thanks!
Template filledPS: reply with "YES" if this is not relevant. Thanks!
Why it works?: because it adds another CTA to your cold email and if you get NOs, it will boost your email deliverability + it will help you understand why certain prospects are not a good fit
PS line template 3: the technology technique
This one is so specific that it's unbeatable. It takes some time to find prospects who all use the same technology (you can do it easily with Apollo or Builtwith) but the process is rewarding in replies.
TemplatePS: saw you chose {{LiveChatName}} for your customer support, great move!
Template filled PS: saw you chose Intercom for your customer support, great move!
Why it works?: because it's something so specific that if done right, it adds a strong layer of personalization - you can do it for any kind of technologies.
PS line template 4: the reverse icebreaker
People normally use cold email opening lines in the beginning of their cold email. Here we do the opposite, we add some layer of personalization at the very end of the cold email.
This way of doing PS lines is great when your personalize line doesn't flow with the body of your email if it was place its beginning.
TemplatePS: {{Icebreaker}}
Template filledPS: saw what you're doing with Breakcold, love the social selling side of the software!
Why it works?: it adds a casual yet personalized sentence in your cold email that will boost your reply rate
PS line template 5: the case study
The case study PS line is the perfect way to (re)affirm your expertise. Not putting this information in the body of your email will help it to stand out more.
TemplatePS: By the way, our client [[Company]] [[case study]]
Template filledPS: By the way, our client MegaStar accelerated their sales pipeline by 50% in the last 30 days using Breakcold
Why it works?: because you're proving a point with a past client
PS line template 6: the meme technique
Using memes will always work. Some buyer personas might be less receptive but you always find people who love it. Provoking **love/hate **emails is better that creating no emotions at all.
